The machine bed of the KRONOS L consists of GRANITAN? This proven
material guarantees optimum damping and an excellent thermal stability. This is supported by a regular distribution and discharge of the coolant flow by spacious coolant channels in the machine base.

The grinding slide which is directly arranged on the machine base is precise, clearance-free and low-friction, linear motion is provided by means of vibration-damped, roller circulation guidance. Within the design of the guiding system, high emphasis was laid on the effective seal of the guidances. The infeed of the grinding slide takes place by means of a servo drive via a clearance-free pre-clamped recirculating ball spindle. Standard-type linear measuring systems control the exact positioning of the infeed axes.

Accuracies and surface qualities of workpieces are influenced by the static and thermal behaviour of the grinding spindle. Depending on the grinding task, the spindle can be designed with different bearing systems for conventional grinding as well as for high speed technology with CBN wheels.
